College Sport (ACC and CAS)
The College provides opportunities for talented and dedicated students through the Panthers Sports Academy which specialises in the sports of Australian Rules Football (AFL), Soccer, and Basketball for students in Years 7 to 10.
College Sport
Sport plays a significant role in the development of a young person and helps them to discover the sense of belonging intrinsic to being a part of a team. Through sport, students learn to win with humility and lose with grace, celebrating the rewards of their dedication and commitment.
Sporting programs offer a range of opportunities accessible to all, including competitive interschool sporting competitions and participation-based options such as Coastal Associated Schools (CAS) Sports.
The College participates in Associated and Catholic Colleges (ACC) carnivals for swimming, cross-country, and athletics. The ACC is a network of high schools across Perth who compete in a series of competitions designed to showcase the talents and abilities of our young athletes.
The College’s interschool sport programs include:
- Summer and Winter terms CAS
- Champion Schools Tournaments
- Associated Catholic Colleges (ACC) Carnivals
- Interschool Lightning Carnivals
The College’s Sporting Academy has a focus on three specialist sports, including Australian Rules Football, soccer, and basketball.

Coastal Associated Schools (CAS) competition
Competition Philosophy
Our College is a member of the CAS sub association within the Associated and Catholic Colleges (ACC) structure. Sub associations exist across the metropolitan area to provide member schools with the opportunity to play interschool sport in an organised, after school sporting competition. The CAS sub association conducts interschool sport with the explicit aims of encouraging participation, sportsmanship and healthy competition.
Member Schools
The CAS sub association includes the following local schools: Prendiville Catholic College, Mater Dei College, St James Anglican Community School, Peter Moyes Anglican Community School, St Mark’s Anglican Community School, St Stephens School Duncraig, and Lake Joondalup Baptist College.
Student Participation
Students are encouraged to embrace all aspects of College life and we believe that participation in sport develops many positive and important qualities. Students who play community sport assume a pivotal role in improving our sporting performance by bring their skills and knowledge to a team which often includes students trying a sport for the first time. Regardless of ability or the ladder position, we believe that bringing together a range of personalities and abilities to work together can deliver immeasurable personal growth.
Competition structure
All games are played after school from 4:00pm – 5:00pm on Tuesdays (Years 10-12) and Wednesdays (Years 7-9), and is conducted under a home and away format. The summer season is played in Term 1 and includes volleyball (senior), indoor beach volleyball (junior), touch (girls), cricket, and basketball. The winter season in Term 2 features football (boys), soccer, and netball. Girls football is conducted in Term 3.
Selection Policy
Our College is committed to providing an opportunity for involvement to as many willing students as possible. After having the opportunity to sign up for a team, a selection trial may be required where demand for places in the team significantly exceeds the number available. Every attempt is made to offer students a place in another team with less numbers if they miss out.
ACC Championship and ACC All Stars
Winning teams from the CAS competition have the opportunity to progress to a knockout competition against schools from other sub associations in the senior and junior basketball, and senior soccer competitions. Talented students are also offered the chance to trial for selection in ACC All Stars teams in netball, basketball, cricket and football to play against a representative team from the government schools.
Coaching, umpiring and scoring
We believe that students need the opportunity to explore sporting avenues outside of playing. We regularly have senior students involved in coaching junior teams, and we are always ready to support students who wish to be involved in umpiring or scoring roles.
Panthers Sports Academy
The College provides opportunities for talented and dedicated students in the sports of Australian Rules Football (AFL) and Soccer, and a Specialist Basketball program in Years 9 and 10.
