Swimming Academy Processes

In 2026, Irene McCormack Catholic College aims to expand the Panthers Sports Academy by introducing Swimming for students in Years 7 to 12. This before-school program is designed to provide additional training opportunities for young swimmers who are already involved in the community and are seeking to further develop their skills within a school-based high-performance environment. Students may apply for Swimming in addition to another Academy sport.

The Panthers Swimming Program will be run by IMCC staff with experience in swimming at elite levels, providing students with expert guidance, support, and development throughout the year. The program will focus on building fitness, refining technique, and helping students pursue excellence in their swimming while continuing their involvement in club training and competition.

The program will launch during Term 2, 2026, with applications open to both current and new students. An initial trial period for Year 7 to Year 12 students will take place during the first two weeks of Term 3. Students currently in Year 5 and Year 6 will be contacted to attend a trial session during Term 3 or Term 4. Please note that the Swimming program is only available once a student has commenced Year 7 and is enrolled at the College.

Successful applicants will be expected to participate in two before-school sessions each week. During Term 1, the program will be integrated with ACC squad training, with students taking part in two sessions per week. In Terms 2, 3, and 4, students will continue with two before-school sessions per week as part of the

Panthers Swimming Program. Students may also be selected to represent the College in Associated and Catholic Colleges of WA (ACC) competitions during Term 1, with a possible open water event in Term 4.

The College welcomes applications from students currently in Years 5 to 12 who are seeking enrolment at Irene McCormack Catholic College, as well as from current students. Selection is based on academic performance, personal attributes, community club participation, athletic ability, coach references, and school reports.
